Do you know that commenting on a blog can be very powerful?
It can be another source for you to generate traffic to your blog.
If you know as a reader that your material is good within your blog. Then by commenting it allows readers to decide if it’s worth checking your site or blog.
That is the reason why I like to use CommentLuv plugin.
CommentLuv gives the individual that is leaving a comment an opportunity to show of their latest post title on my blog. If another reader likes the title they see they will click on it. Basically it provides the reader a preview of your work.
Now, I’ve seen my share of individuals missing out on the opportunity by making mistakes when leaving comments.
I’m going to share with you the 3 most common mistakes individuals make by commenting.
1. Leaving unnecessary comments. When you leave something that is not even related to the topic that was just discussed. It’s guarantee disapproval. Most blogger are not going to approve a comment that seems like it was generate from software.
Hear me out on this, there are automated commenting software that does nothing but spit out spam comments. They are targeting the blogger that is not monitoring their comments.
How you should comment - Think about what you want to say. Keep it relevant to the topic that you just read. Add value in your comment for individuals that will be reading it.
2. Adding spam links - This is very annoying when you are moderating the comments and they contain spam links. Some folks will leave a line or two and then short spam links afterward.
Now, you do have those individuals that do provide good info in their comments but then add links to affiliate products or inappropriate sites.
How you should comment – Remember that the space you are writing on doesn’t belong to you. It belongs to the blog owner. So don’t go try selling your products on a blog that you don’t own. If you want to sell a product ask for permission.
3. Not respecting the community within the blog - Get a feel for the community. If you see that everyone in the community is relax and fun. Then have fun with your comments. If you see that the community is mostly serious professionals don’t bother trying to be the comedian.
How you should comment - Learn about the community within the blog. I’ve visited blogs were everyone was serious and I like to have fun with my comments. In this case I had to keep it professional.
As you can see in this community we like to share and have fun. There are some really cool readers that visit this blog.
So enjoy commenting on blogs. It will drive traffic to your blog or site. I can show you stats of data of individuals that comment everyday and receive some pretty cool traffic from this blog.

Hi Josh,
I agree with all of your points. I especially dislike automated software comments. This is such a selfish action to get a link back to their sites without giving any value to the blog community. Thanks for bring these important points to everybody’s attention. By the way does the Captcha code below stop prevent software generated comments?

Hi Marcus,
I don’t like those automated comments. That is why yesterday I installed Captcha code to see if it helps out. I tell you that since I installed it yesterday my spam comments has decrease a lot in 24 hour window. Now, ask me the same question next week. One week should be a good assessment.
Have a great day!
I hate unnecessary comments that just say, “Thanks You For Great Post” or something like that!
I have used many anti-spam methods in past but I hate captchas! While I understand that it can stop lot of spam, it still ads one extra step for readers. And if captchas are difficult, it’s very frustrating.
Let us know about your results with captcha, they will surely be helpful!

Hey Josh,
These tips of critical when trying to decide where to post.
You should also keep in mind the people that are commenting. This
will help you determine if you are rolling with the right people (your
niche).
Once you start recognizing the same people, start clicking their links
and before you know it, you built up a community of bloggers aka
The Better Bunch, lol.
Thanks Josh!

Hi Tommy,
If you are targeting your audience correctly then you won’t have a problem having the right people commenting. That is another subject or topic.
Have a great day!
Hey Josh,
Great points, with all the spam out there it’s sometimes hard to tell whats a real comment and whats a bot.
Can be a great source of traffic and a way to build connections if you do it right.
The “better bunch” are awesome at this.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
I hate when that happens you are not sure if it’s a real comment or a fake one. That is why I install Captcha. I got tired of trying to catch the sneaking one. At least with Captcha it puts an extra step that they have to take.
Have a great day!
Hi Josh,
You have made 3 excellent points. Spam is everywhere and we all have to deal with it unfortunatly. I have not had any automated software comments as yet but I have a some people copy and paste other peoples comments and leave them on my blog.
Tristram Lodge
Hi Tristram,
The copy and paste trick of comments. I’ll catch those once in a while. Thanks for stating that.
Have a wonderful day!
Hi Josh,
Writing comments is also a skill just blog writing or article writing and by sharing your valuable comments one can get a good amount of traffic to his own blog/website. Writing comments just for heck of it or to spam people just like spoiling the green grass where everybody is playing, resting etc. And this is how the readers decide whether you are worth a visit or not. Have a nice day josh
Hi Yadvinder,
Thanks for sharing you thought on this. When commenting on a blog it does pay to make sure you are saying something worth looking at.
Have a wonderful day!
Very nicely written article post! I love the plugin and noticed it on some folks blogs where my latest post are showing up! Great point, and let’s not leave out all the wonderful tips you nicely placed here. Good to meet you here!

Yeah, I totally hate the spam comments that have nothing to do with the blog post. Comment love rules. I have it on my blog as well. I think that if provides a lot of incentive for people to leave a comment as well as a quick way to see what everyone else is up to when you are skimming through the comments.
@Tristram -This is the first time that I have heard of copy and pasting comments. What a waste of time. The spammer might as well just type something at that point.

Hi Josh,
You should make this post sticky! Ha
Another thing I’ve noticed from time to time is a hyper-active commenter who leaves like 10 comments on the same post.
Maybe that falls under #3?

Hi Derek,
I guess the hyper-active got stuck on the keyboard. That is why they submit the same comment over and over.
Have an awesome day!
Comment Luv’s passive linking is golden. There’s no reason for readers to think that bloggers are only there to push their website.
There is definitely a select group of people within this group of blogs that are really making the effort and want to learn and share. I’m glad to see the same names popping up everywhere.
Hi Seth,
Thanks for that. I’m excited for you!
Have an awesome day!
Josh
Been reading you for a while. But this post blew me away. I think everyone that has ever posted a comment should read THIS post. You better beleive I will be re-tweeting this little bit of info. From all of us that have been spammed to death in the comment section, a HUGE thank-you
Cheers
Carl
Hi Carl,
Thanks for commenting and being a loyal reader! Glad to see you here and thanks for sharing this info.

I love this plugin. It is absolutely great. It really encourages the readers to participate. They are able to get something back by having their latest post appear.
When leaders do this, it just shows how unselfish they are and how interested they are in seeing people succeed.
Thanks for sharing this…

Hey Josh,
I also like CommentLuv because it gives credibility to the people who comment on your blog. And because of that, it also boosts your credibility too. It’s a great feature to have.
Wayne
Hi Wayne,
Those are good reasons to have it installed.
Have a great day!
I’d expect nothing less from the COMMENT NINJA himself. Giving away all of your trade secrets are we? You’re like the Mr. (I’m about to butcher this) Miyagi of commenting and teaching all of the Cobras how to do the same.
Good stuff,

Hi Josh,
Great article … again!!
I love CommentLuv! It’s a way to say “thank you” to my readers. Now, I have to admit that I learned about REPLYING to comments just a few month ago. I wasn’t trying to be rude by not replying, I just didn’t know better. But, I tell you, ever since “I got it” a whole new world opened up to me.
Commenting on blogs and replying to comments is a fantastic way to build relationships with your readers. And isn’t that what we’re all after? Building quality relationships with like-minded people so we can learn from them and visa verca?
Cheers and have a great evening!

Beautifully written Josh,
I especially liked when you said to ‘ADD VALUE’ to your comments because you’re the perfect example of this ‘rule’.
Not only does it make the blog owner happy because of the conversations that are happening – but you as the commentator is a looked upon as a leader because of the value you bring to the table…
Great stuff,

It’s important when you are at someone else blog and leaving a comment to say something valuable. Not only is the writer of the post reading it. The readers will read it as well and you possibly can gain another reader to your blog.
Have a great day!
Great point about the rules of commenting! It’s sad to say that these rules have to be stated but it’s true.
Also if someone comments on your blog, return the favor and visit and comment on their’s!

Josh buddy You are so right about different types of blogs, when it comes to commenting. I don’t think I can live in a community of all serious bloggers, how dull and boring.
I like to share value and have fun, with professionals who know their stuff and know how to let lose sometime. I think We have a great bunch of bloggers in our circle.
