Network Marketing Training – Are You Making Excuses For Your Success…
With only a couple of days for 2009 and the up coming New Year, we will start seeing an increase in membership in gyms, decrease fast-food sales, and increase of healthy food sales. New year, new life, right?
People think that January 1 is the beginning of a new life, and many more that can be. However, note the number of people in the gym early in the New Year? Watch that after 2 weeks and you will notice that 90% of those people are gone.
Why is this so?
The goals that we set are the foundation of our dreams. The goals are the driving force behind our desired lifestyle. Setting goals is to help build a base. First we have to take a look at some common reasons people do not set goals.
If there’s one important thing I’ve learned, is the power of setting goals. A small percentage of people (studies have shown that less than 10%) have written goals we want to achieve. Within this small percentage, the percentage is even smaller with the individuals actually taking the action steps to achieve their goals. So, if goal setting is a simple tool to get what you so desire in life, then why do so few people set goals?
5 reasons why people do not set goals…
1. They do not know what they want - A lot of people don’t know what they want to do in life? What do they want to accomplish? What experiences do they want? Many times, people do not know the answers to these questions.
2. They do not know how to set goals effectively - Sometimes individuals do not know how to effectively set and take steps toward their goals. They think about what they want but do not know why they want anything, or do not know how to accomplish what it is they are trying to reach.
3. Targets have been set before and not followed through - For those who have set goals in the past have failed to achieve its objectives. This leads them to disbelieve in the power of goal setting. One of the main reasons is because they didn’t meet their goals. This goes along with the knowledge of how to set realistic goals effectively.
4. It takes time - Yes it is going to take time. So is watching reruns of 24 or looking aimlessly Facebook. Anything we do takes time.
5. People are afraid to dream - Remember a child’s growth, all things in life you wanted to be? Once you get older, where does this passion go? A lot of the passion gets loss through formal education, people are “shaped” and “limited” to their dream by listening to other individuals with no dreams. For some people, they lost their passions in life and become controlled by 9-5 lifestyles, not realizing that spending a little bit of non-productive time toward a goal will get you closer.
Hopefully, you don’t fall in any of these categories. If you do, it is not to late to pick yourself up and set a goal towards an accomplishment for the new year. Read a book on setting goals or how to achieve a dream of yours. Don’t let your passion or dream get drown in the ‘world of nothing’.
