Hi Yadvinder,

The way I make my videos I use PowerPoint and Camtasia. Here is a post I did explaining the tools…“How to Overcome Video Marketing Even If You Are Shy”

Hi Josh,

Great points and very well presented by someone who has an Alexa ranking below 100! Awesome.

Yadvinder I am sure Josh will answer this but am sure he will have used Power Point and Camtasia which is a screencasting software to crate the video.

Cheers

Josh,

Haha, this is great! I see too many people trying to
impress. These are great tips and we know how
people can throw numbers around but if your rating
is not dropping than what is the point?
I have been following your lead along with many other great bloggers
building my reputation and now others are starting to follow my lead.
March 1 my rating was 15 million and as of today I am around
301,000.
I tell everyone to read other blogs, learn and put what you
learned into ACTION. MASSIVE ACTION!!

Thanks for the tips.

@Yadvinder I know Josh uses Camtasia and I use Camtasia’s little
brother Jing Pro. You can record your screen and yes, you can
use a powerpoint presentation.

Have a great day!!

Hmm… This has me wondering if I am providing information or just trying to impress. I don’t have a lot to offer yet since I am so new to this. I think I am just trying to entertain and be consistent at this point until I have a knowledge base large enough to offer information that others can use.

Josh,

You are so right. My blog has been around for awhile, but until I started reaching out to people recently, my rating was garbage. It’s still not that great, but getting much better. You absolutely have to seek out and create a discussion with your customers to get them to want to come back. If you don’t, your blog will just sit there in the pile of other discarded blogs, like a bunch of old toys that no one wants to play with any more.

People do not get excited and go out to seek you. You have to remind them that you are still out there providing good, solid content. Great post.

Hi Joshua,

That is the secret, reaching out to people so you can be discovered. It’s like playing basketball. You can play basketball in your driveway and no one is going to show up. However, when you go to the part you’ll find a lot of people playing ball. Now you make friends and before you know it you’ll have a couple of people playing ball with you in your driveway…BTW, I can’t play ball. ;)

Josh..

Tip #3 is crucial. Think about it.. what’s the point of blogging if you’re not helping anyone? – None.. there’s no point… & you’re right about people actually sharing your post, I got a ton of traffic from Stumbleupon, and I don’t submit anything to StumbleUpon..

This really does work, and I hope this helps a lot of people.

By the way, ranked 100K in less than 7 month.. good stuff Josh.. I’m almost there!

talk soon bro,

Very true. I always check out other people’s websites and their stats, easiest way to call their bluff when delusions of grandeur are being spewed. There are other venues to verify (ie Statebrain) but non are as accurate as Alexa, even still keep in mind their reports can be months behind.

Reply

Josh Garcia May 15, 2010 at 11:52 am

Hi Marc,

Thanks for stopping by! It is funny when you know when someone is bluffing with their numbers. The cool part about Alexa is when your rating is below 100k it provides you details from the last 24 hour window.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Josh,

I’m glad I found your blog. Right now I’m catching up on your posts. This video really helped me out.

I was asked to join a team of other writers and the owner of the site told me that they have lots of traffic. Well, I knew she was fibbing because the Alexa Ranking is in the millions. Anyway..I now know that that ranking does mean something.

I was wondering how I could find out who my readers are. Thanks for sharing that info too..very helpful!

Take care!

It’s important to know with what you are dealing with. The only way you can find out about your readers is by using the Google Analytics Tools. It will provide you some cool information so you can gauge your online business. If there is any other tool that is available. I’m sure some of the champions that visit this blog will let you know.
