Buying leads seems to be a good network marketing opportunity at least at first glance. The problem actually goes a lot deeper: as long as you depend on someone else for leads, you are not in full control of your business.
Here are some of the risks or disadvantages of buying leads, and the answer for what I consider a real network marketing opportunity.
Some companies pay people to be leads, then sell them to network marketers eager to make money, but the truth is that they couldn’t care less about the products you promote. You’ll just buy some tired lists that have already been sold dozens of times.
There is one other category of lead sellers: those who sell very expensive leads. You have the chance of getting access to unique prospects but you depend on the seller for access to this group of buyers. Should you stop paying for the lead generation service, there will no longer be leads.
The real network marketing opportunity comes in the form of a self-sustaining business that can be run online just as in the real world. It is important to understand from the very beginning that there is no such thing as getting rich quickly. A really profitable business grows in time and it needs a lot of time, energy and resources before it starts bringing you money. The greatest decision you could make here is to develop the MLM business online.
When working on the Internet, the advertising of your product will depend on the creation of some theme-based content. You will have to write articles and submit to web directories to spread the word about your business. Potential clients will then refer back to your site through the links that you include in the materials. A good network marketing opportunity does not appear too often in the real sense of the word.
Much of your success will depend on how skillful you are to attract customers and keep them interested. This means that you have to do everything in your power to constantly increase the traffic level, because the higher the number of web visitors, the better the chances to find prospects. This means that you are in control of everything that has to do with business management and you don’t depend on someone else to generate the leads for you.
It is therefore pointless to focus on the best product, best network marketing opportunity or best compensation plan if you don’t understand this plain but simple truth.

This is a really good article. When I was fresh working my primary opportunity, my coach talked my wife and I into purchasing “wheel slots” for $500 each. They get you 5 leads that already purchased an information package on the opportunity. They make it sound like its a lock for a sign up. We learned the hard way, spending $1500 for three months then $1000 for three months. Signed up a handful of not-so-serious people that didn’t make it a year. I was a newbie with no knowledge of what I was doing and failed. I feel everyone in network marketing really should pick up a copy of Magnetic Sponsoring. I finally understood the concept of attracting my own leads and as a leader in the industry, I then know how to speak to my prospects and turning them into team members and not have waste money like a did walking into it blindfolded.
