Link popularity is one of the things that contribute to getting a website or blog indexed by search engines. A search engine may even index a website/blog that has never been visited during link analysis due to its link popularity.
This is why having inbound links to your website/blog is important for a business trying to make it big on the internet.
Today you will find most of the good SEO experts to be recommending contextual link building as the primary link building strategy. This is not to say that other link building strategies like article marketing and forum postings have been undone. Rather a truly successful campaign would incorporate all these different link building strategies but with particular emphasis on contextual link building.
Why the Emphasis on Contextual Link Building?
In a nutshell contextual link building is basically a form of third party advertising. Internet users seeking for the products and services that you have to offer are passively directed towards your website.
This happens by means of one way permanent inbound links that are placed within blog reviews. These blog reviews are published on major blogs and shopping sites where internet users read these blog reviews for the purpose of getting a third party perspective.
Within the blog posts are anchor texts that have been hyperlinks. When a reader wants to know more about the topic being discussed in the blog posts he clicks on the anchor text to land on your website/blog. Hence we find that contextual link building will actually be promoting your business without actually ever mentioning the name.
This all too natural appearance of the links is what makes this technique a highly effective one. It takes a lot of effort to successfully compose this technique in order for it to appear naturally.

Hi Josh
Great post. Linking and SEO are a buzz topic right now, which is strange as SEO has been around for as long as search engines have, granted it has developed a lot just as everything else on the internet has.
Another way to drive traffic to a blog / website is use a plug-in called Onlywire. Onlywire is similar to your “Share this post” section. It groups all the different social media sites in one button. This way you can get links from multiple places with the click of 1 button.
You can also submit your blog to blog communities like MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, Blogged and NetworkBlogs. Not only you will get followers, you can get indexed by Google faster.
Thanks
Dwayne
Hey Dwayne,
Thanks for commenting and sharing this valuable information.
Yes, I do agree that lately the buzz word has been SEO this and SEO that. Guess what…that is a great title for a SEO book. More books are coming out on this topic as well. Maybe we should write a book on it, since we are always sharing information on this topic as well.
I must say the information you just shared is valuable…In other words, MONEY!
Once again thanks for stopping by and sharing…
