Are you very detailed? How about structured? Do you look at new opportunities with a lot of caution? This next personality type is the melancholic. When you are working with a melancholic in your network marketing business at first you won’t be able to distinguish them from a choleric until you start working with them.
Melancholic prefer to avoid conflict and will do so at any cost. They will adapt to whatever environment and/or situation they find themselves in order to avoid challenges or stepping on anyone’s toes. This personality are more than happy to try to satisfy you, and they will be whoever you want them to be. Melancholic personalities are willing to put in the time to build long term relationship even though they may appear cool and detached at first. They are respectful of people’s space and surroundings.
How to work with a melancholic…
Melancholic are neat and prefer an orderly existence and will tend to follow traditional procedures and established systems for what they do. When coaching a melancholic, you must ensure that you give tasks and projects that focus on precision, organization and planning. They respond better to longer term goals versus short term ones.
Be very clear in your expectations they may have challenges prioritizing tasks, and it is therefore advisable to provide them with detailed description that they are expected to follow. This will ensure that their direction is set since a melancholic tend to be a bit hesitant and reserved in making decisions and may not self-direct themselves well.
How to coach a melancholic…
Make sure you are there for them by being supportive and responsive to their needs. Give them direction as needed. Most important is to deflect stress and pressure away from them. As I mentioned earlier, they are extremely uncomfortable in difficult situations.
Melancholic are typically technically competent, well prepared, diplomatic and logical. However, at times they can be guilty of over thinking. They may also over analyze and overwhelm with detail, particularly in written materials where they tend to be very wordy. Melancholic are open-minded to a certain extent, but once their mind is made up, they can be very strict and difficult to redirect.
If you are a melancholic, building a network marketing business you most likely want to gather up all the information before you do anything. Get mentor, by a good coach that will guide you with proven methods that work in this industry. When building your team, remember the other personalities that we have discuss. A choleric and sanguine don’t care so much of details. Just show them what needs to be done in a straight forward fashion.
