Becoming a leader in your network marketing business requires development. Good news it is not a complicated training process.
However, it does take time to learn it. If you just take look at yourself for a second you’ll realize that is where leadership begins.
The question to ask yourself, can I lead myself before I can lead others?
It all begins by committing to excellence. Whatever you do, you want to be sure to excel at it. I read that Dr. Martin Luther King said, any street sweeper should be so committed to excellence that when they die, they will be remembered as the best street sweeper that ever lived. Are you willing to commit to your business to that level?
This is the secret.
You have to put yourself and commit to a personal growth development. Take a look at your mental, emotional and spiritual health. How are you doing in these areas? Are you right now personally growing? Or just going with the flow? Are you able to identify your desires and work towards achieving them? At all cost! If not, something is hindering you.
Let go of that bondage once and for all!
If there is any person, personality trait or even handicaps that hinder you form pursuing your goals or dreams, don’t let that hold you back… Starting Now! If your friends or family members are very negative and they are always discouraging you to pursue your goals, get away from them… Immediately! Even if it hurts for a short period.
If your spouse is dragging you down, talk to him or her. You should be able to agree to help each other. After all, that’s what loving each other means, right?
Challenge yourself continually to raise to the next level. Keep reaching for higher goals. If you achieve one goal, don’t stop there…go for the next. Being a leader is a series of learning and a series of challenges that can help you shine.
Why I do…what I do.
Always serve others. You know that feeling of joy and that happiness you get from within your soul whenever you help somebody? Do it daily. Do it always. When you help others, you’d be surprised how others also help you when your turn to need help comes.
Where did I learn this from.
Five years ago, I put myself through a vigorous personal development program. I knew something had to change. And that was ME not my wife. I read more books in 5 years, than I did going from elementary to college. The first book that I read was “Think and Grow Rich” I couldn’t put that book down. That is the book to blame for my personal growth.
I always get ask this question, “What book should I start reading to guide and develop my leadership?” The book that I love… “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, Follow Them and People Will Follow You” by John C. Maxwell. If you don’t own a copy…go pick one up!
As a matter of fact, below you’ll find a copy so you can purchase it. Yes, I do make a little something out of it. But what you will gain from it…Will be business partners in your network marketing business.

Wow Josh
Great post.
A leader is something you become through development and growth.
If you don’t develop, you won’t grow. If you don’t grow you will not be a real leader.
To reach the next level in anything take person self-development. It has most certainly taking me from ‘just getting through life’ to constructing and designing my own future. That is a very empowering feeling.
Making Good Use OF Time
Dwayne
Hi Dwayne,
There are so many folks that see someone with great leadership traits and think that they were born with it. Not realizing that it is something that is learned through personal development.
Have a great day…
Josh
Great points Josh,
I was like you until about 6 years ago, too — I didn’t read much.
Once I made the decision to read for my own personal development, my whole life changed!
Hi Derek,
You can’t stop learning! I attend seminars, listen to Cd’s & Mp3′s, and read all to improve myself. The beauty my wife has been on the same game plan. So it’s not just me. We both develop together.
Another awesome post, Josh ! Thanks!
To be a great leader you have to be a great follower first. Can’t remember who said that, but it is so true.
You also need to constantly feed your mind with positive and empowering information. I always say, the day I stop learning is the day I die.
Keep them coming, Josh! I love your posts
Hi Ilka,
Thanks for your quick word of wisdom. I can’t remember who said that either…But it is good!
Feeding the mind and surrounding yourself with winners is empowering. I’m surrounded with winners that visit this blog and more keep coming.
Enjoy your day…
Josh
Hey Josh,
Great philosophy of always serving others – the old “law of reciprocity” will always be on your side my friend.
Great post.
Hi Wayne,
Serving others is the secret to achieving anything in life. That is how it’s won.
Hi Josh,
Commitment is a scary word for many. We hear some say they would “like to” commit but they are actually afraid of it.
If you’re interesting in achieving great things in a home business then you have to commit to being a leader. As a home business owner it’s our duty to take the reins and drive it forward.
Good one Josh.
Jerome Ratliff
Hi Jerome,
Some folks are afraid of commitment because of the obligation that goes with it. That is why if someone is willing to accept the obligation as a leader. Doors will open.
Have a good evening…
Josh
A leader of one can be a leader of many, but if you can’t lead one, you can’t lead any! Correct or what? Commitment, what dat mean? Real commitment takes work with anything you do.
True, True
Eric
Hi Eric,
That is so true! You must take action if you want to reap anything.
Hey Josh,
Great post. I would like to know what program it was that you went through. It sounds like it could do a lot of people some good.
I believe that when you make the decision to become a leader in whatever you do, you start to realize there were opportunities there that you never saw before.
Hi Chris,
The program was a personal one I put together for myself. It’s called GU – Garcia University
I keep it affordable so people can change to the better. Once you make that decision the world is in your palm.
