Being successful in network marketing is not an event, it’s a skill.
The only people with the skill to be successful in this industry- and I’m talking about the full-time networkers generating a significant 6-figure income-are leaders.
People (and that includes prospects) gravitate toward leaders.
Here’s the good news: leaders aren’t born, they’re made. And no one else can make you a leader but you. No one puts you in that position; you declare yourself to be a leader. It’s a simple choice. Anyone can be a leader if they choose to be. You don’t need any prerequisites; you don’t have to have a downline or money or a certain status. You can decide to be a leader RIGHT NOW.
Simply choose to do the things that leaders do. Period!
Most people think that when they get results (in the form of people joining their business, or making a certain amount of money) then they become a leader, but it’s actually the other way around. The actions of a leader always precede their results.
So what does a leader actually do?
Leaders provide value. They provide value by constantly building upon their skills and knowledge. They are also continually increasing their value to others by acquiring new skills and strategies. A leader is always thinking, “How can I give back to the world? How can I provide the most value possible to the most people?” And their bank account will reflect that: the more value they provide, the more zeros and commas they’ll see on their bank statement.
Here’s a simple question to keep in mind: would you want to join someone in their network marketing business if they had nothing to offer in terms of mentorship or leadership? Of course not! So, don’t expect anyone to follow you if you aren’t providing value, either.
So how do you provide value? You educate yourself. Leaders read books and listened to CDs and seek out coaching from those who are already successful in the industry. They acquire skills that the vast majority of other networkers haven’t taken the time to learn.
Become very knowledgeable in one area of marketing like pay-per-click, for example, and those who don’t already have that skill will be attracted to you because they will see that your skill will help them build their business better than them doing attempting it on their own.
So, if you want to earn the big bucks, you must provide value to people who don’t know what you know.
The best part here is that it’s easy to set yourself apart from most other network marketers by being a leader. In a huge desert of struggling networkers, you present yourself as an oasis when you become a leader. This will attract more prospects to you and, therefore, enable you to become successful in the network marketing industry.
John C. Maxwell summed it up well when he said, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” So go out and be that leader today!
