Are You Developing Your Leadership Skills or Staying Stagnant?

by Josh Garcia on April 6, 2010

Leadership Skills

When building any kind of business if you want to achieve any level of success you will need leadership skills.

Some folks when they hear the word leadership it puts a knot in their stomach.

The good news is that leadership can be a skill that develops over time. Only if you are willing to accept that role.

I’m going to share with you 4 key components of leadership habits that you can start to developing right NOW.

Acquire a clear vision

All leaders know where they are going and what they want to accomplish. If you are not so clear what your goals are that is fine. Just take the remaining of this week to set a simple plan.

Understand that leaders don’t waver from their plan. Now, this doesn’t mean that you cannot make adjustments to your plan. There are times that I have to readjust myself to get back into gear.

You want to find out what drives you and set plans around it. I’ve seen by doing this you will do everything that is possible to achieve them.

Must have PMA

We all know what it stands for! Understand that a strong leader will only speak of positive. I hate to say this but typically the folks that speak negative are losers.

When you speak only positive you will begin to see everything around you align itself of what you are speaking.

People are attracted to positive people. My blog attracts positive people. I attract positive people. I’ll tell you first hand that I will remove myself from any negative people or situations.

When people see that you have a PMA you will gain much more respect as a leader. Understand that I’m not saying that you will avoid doom and gloom. What I’m saying you’ll have such a positive outlook on things that a doom and gloom will not affect you.

Help others achieve their full potential

Leaders help others bring out the best inside of them. I have leaders in my life that are constantly stretching me to another level. Sometimes this stretching does hurt but I don’t question. I hate to stay stagnant. I’m sure if you are reading this you don’t like to stay stagnant either.

If you have people that are working with you in your business. It is important that you connect with them so you can help them bring out the best in them. There are techniques on how to accomplish this.

Continually educate yourself

You never want to stop learning. I’m not saying that you want to become a know it all. But do continue to work on yourself by developing yourself.

There are areas that we all need to work on so we can become even stronger as a leader.

When you make it part of your life to continually work on yourself. You won’t be in a stagnant position. When you want to move forward and only forward it will become a normal part of your life to educate yourself.

If you are looking for someone to give you that boost simply connect with me here.

Hi Josh,

Leadership skills are vital to success and it’s such a great process to learn firsthand what it means to be leader.

It really does help us move forward in our lives. The better leaders we can be, more likely we are able to teach others what is key in becoming a leader.

Talk to you later,

Hi Jerome,

I remember when I first launch my very first business. I said, “I don’t need to learn about leadership, I’m born with it!” I learned my lesson. This is a continual process. I look back and laugh at it.

Have an awesome day!

Josh,
I think I said this last week on someone else’s blog, but you must first be able to lead yourself before you can ever hope to lead the masses. You have to be able to make yourself do the things that you may not necessarily want to do.

Good points,

Hey, Josh.

Thought I would drop a comment here since I referred to this post at Jerome’s site earlier.

Good reminder in your post that leadership is a process; it just doesn’t happen in a day. Thanks for that.

And as Jerome mentioned in his post, leadership is about influence—if you don’t have it, you can’t lead others. End of story! Well….not exactly, but you get the picture.

Have a great evening!

Hey Josh,

Great post!

Another quality I believe every leader needs is absolute confidence.
You don’t have to start out that way, but it something to aim for.

Work on your education/knowledge, and have belief in what you are doing and the confidence will come :)

Hey Josh

PMA all the way buddy.
Another skill to add to this is to set an example (such as you d0).

When people see really leaders make it in this industry using only ethical means and ways it is proof that they can also make it.

Leaders like you are a great testament to the network marketing industry

Hey Josh,

Enjoyed the article and all the points that you made.
I feel it is also important to recognize your progress. Some people do need to see progress in order to get a positive feeling, that is just the way some people work. Not everyone is perfect and we have our good and bad weeks. To keep your PMA, I like to track my progress. If I do have a bad week, I can learn from my mistakes and in the future use it as a learning opportunity so it doesn’t happen again.

Have a great day!

The most effective leaders I’ve ever know are those who manage to create other leaders, often by accident it seems. That’s the key for me–leaders obviously create followers, but I believe that truly charismatic, sincere leaders who lead for the right reasons will always produce more quality leaders in their wake.

Great post as always Josh.

Josh

In becoming a leader we have to always to do is strive to become greater than we are. We also have to exercise our bodies as well as our minds to radiate positive energy towards those around us. Besides when shooting a video who wants to watch the person that looks like they need to take a nap, and drink a gallon of coffee.

Cheers
