Who Else Wants to Increase Their Online Traffic?

Increase Online Traffic

What is your focus…Online Traffic or Writing Content?

If you are anything like me, when I launched this blog. I was monitoring every single stat that was available.

I kept asking myself, “Where is the traffic?”

So I started studying all kinds of traffic generation methods by reading books, purchasing products, and attending live webinars.

Is it all worth it…You BET it is!

I learned a lot on how to generate traffic. But the most important factor was not about generating traffic. It was about Writing Content.

I know writing content does not come easy for everyone. It didn’t for me in the beginning. There are individuals that can whip out high quality content quickly.

It doesn’t matter if it takes you hours or minutes to create content. The important component is to create QUALITY sought out content.

I want to make sure you understand that you don’t have to become a master copywriter to write high quality content. If you understand just the basics of copywriting you have a head start than most individuals.

Click on the play button. I recorded a short audio for you…

writing content

Hey Josh

Content is King!

It is like owning a store, you could hire clowns to stand at the corner and wave signs, or buy an expensive tv commercial, but when people show up and your product sucks no will buy and no one will share their experience with others, well except to say you suck :)

Nice touch on the mobile audio.

Hey Josh, the audio makes an interesting departure from the “traditional” video we are seeing more of these days.

The way I see it is that there are two types of content – factual content, which I interpret as tutorial, review or affiliate type promo posts & insightful content.

Writing factual content is pretty easy (as in not difficult) as you have the facts at hand to be able to formulate a “report” of sorts. Insightful content is a little more difficult as this is where you have to put your own thought onto “paper”. The one trick I learned & apply when writing this kind of content, is to just “speak from the heart”, as if you were talking to someone over the ‘phone.

Either way, as Peter says – Content IS King…as long as it is helpful or useful!

Stay inspired!

Hi Josh,

thanks for sharing your post and your audio. I learned from one my mentors that traffic doesn’t need to be generated because it’s already there – it “only” needs to be diverted. And good content is the sign that determines the direction traffic follows. At the end of the day, it’s not about being a best-writer, but a best-seller.

Take care

Content is the hardest part of blogging for me I must admit, Being dyslexic I find it difficult to get the words onto paper. However I find it to be one of the most enjoyable things I do in my business. We only get good at something by learning and doing it.

Great post as always.

Hi Steve,

That is correct…You can drive tons of traffic, however, if the content sucks. You’ll have nothing but a high bounce rate and get penalize from the search engines.

Hey Josh,

Content was king at one point, now with so many people regeritating(sp?) the same content over and over again, the new rule I am hearing is origianl….now we all know there are to many different things we can teach…very true but we could all teach or present the information in different manners….like your audio. Many years ago I hear that that was very dominat and it has lost its sheen. As we all know though – different stands out and when you “whisper” everyone listens!

Reply

Josh Garcia September 7, 2010 at 11:45 am

Hi Robert,

When you are original and different people will listen to what you have to say.

Hi Josh – content rules! Too many people worry that their contribution is ‘unworthy’ because they have not attained online guru or celebrity status – when in fact the truth is that everyone has a story and beneath the surface EVERYONE is profoundly interesting – if only they’d share ( actually I’ll qualify that by saying everyone except tabloid pseudo reality celebrities lol)

Another great post thnx for sharing

Josh,

Content is very powerful, but there is more to creating a bunch of traffic than just having great content. That is a place that I am stuck on lately. I have a solid readership, and the people that do read my content really like, but you also have to build your own brand outside of content. You have to let the world know that you are alive and why they should do business with you.

Once again I am reminded that like most things worth while in life, it can be about the balance. Of course any online endeavor needs traffic, but the quality of the help or information will create return traffic and customer retention as well as the good possibility of word of mouth referrals or going viral , as they say. But the quality versus quantity question is not even necessary if there is no quantity at all. We must have a good solid foundation of traffic generation under our belt as Internet marketers, but great content is what will define us and create the kind of attention for a phenomenal following and success. Just some thoughts…..I have enjoyed your current theme of being accomplished copywriters. Thanks again.
