My question to you is, “Are You Ready to Take Your Online Business to Another Level?”
If you own a blog and write articles on a regular basis. Do you realize that you can start writing an ebook?
By creating an ebook you can create additional income from it. Some folks offer an ebook for free to build an email list.
I’m in the middle of writing an ebook. The one component that shock me was that I already had a lot of the content available from all of the articles I have written in the past.
The only challenge was organizing it together so it flows.
The big misconception that most individuals have is thinking that the ebook needs to be written like a novel or some famous author. I believe this is what holds people back from creating an ebook.
The best part about ebooks they don’t need to have long chapters like a college book.
Before I started putting my ebook together I notice that a lot of the ebooks that I’ve read didn’t have long chapters but informative valuable content.
I’m a big fan of article marketing. However, as article marketing directories are putting stronger guidelines as to what they are accepting. It is getting hard to write an article with the intention to promote a product or an affiliate program.
With an ebook you can promote products and other affiliate programs and still cash in as an internet marketer.
Changing your thought process
If you feel that you still can’t put together an ebook and you have been writing content on your blog for awhile. You need to change your thought process!
If you feel that the ebook that you are thinking about creating is already done by someone else. You need to change your thought process!
If you feel that your material isn’t good enough for people to read and you’ve been writing articles for awhile. You definitely need to change your thought process!
Go for it!
If you already have the content within your articles why not take your business to the next level by writing an ebook.

Josh great post.. for me and my ebook, it took me like a month of writing, tweaking and getting what was in my head on to paper..lol
But at the end, whatever time it take,s it is worth it, since you will have something to share with your readers for yrs to come.

I’ve found the best way to write eBooks is to write them like blogs–short paragraphs, very readable copy, etc. It’s funny that people who have written like a million words on their blog don’t think they have what it takes to write an eBook. I actually find it fairly fun to open up a word processor and just let loose for a few hours at a time! And you’re 100% right that if you’ve been blogging for a while, you already have some of the content, and probably most of the thinking done.

This is a great way to create huge e-books that you can giveaway as list builders as well. There are many people out there that just repackage their blog posts and articles, creating 300+ page ebooks doing nothing but cutting and pasting their own content.
You already wrote it once, why repeat all that work since you own it. Sure people can get it for free, but will they take the time to click on everything you’ve ever done? Nope.

I too started to notice some of the restrictions they are putting on promoting your articles when it comes to affiliate programs, etc.

I had similar thoughts about writing ebooks a while back. I thought that you had to sit down and churn one out from scratch. One day I thought, why don’t I edit some of my blog posts and articles and condense into ebook form?

I am working on a project right now where I broke it down to 19 distinct parts and then scheduled them based on my time and how much time was need to complete each segment. I find this an easy way to get started, and I do mean started. Sometimes we do not start something because it seems overwhelming.
I suggest breaking an ebook up into chapters and just comcentrating on one at a time. Before you know it you have an fully completed ebook

Actually there are some blogs I’ve visited that seem to talk more on certain topics than others. I’ve wished that they’d just do an ebook on those topics and put all that info in one place. Keeping it very on topic.
An ebook doesn’t have to be super long, and you can have multiple ones, on various topics.

Josh, I’ve seen lots of advice regarding eBooks but I really like your first-hand accounting. What software is best to use in CREATING an eBook? I have a PDF creation program (NOT Adobe) that I could use. I’ve also seen different eBook “creation software” that one can download but they seem to be “systems within a system” – if you share or sell your eBook the receiver must install software so they can read it.

That is an awesome question. I’m sure it was in the minds of all the folks that read this but you ask first. On my end I’m using Microsoft Word 2007 to write the book. Once it’s complete I’m going to ‘Save As’ Adobe PDF and zip it for download. That is the simplest way to create an ebook and distribute.
Whatever route you go with. You want to make sure it is simple for the end user to download and read.

Multi purposing one’s content makes great sense so that the value we share gets maximum exposure and an E-Book is an ideal way to do this.
The biggest tip I would suggest us to not put too much into each E-Book. One is better off writing a number of E-Books which also increases the perception that one is being a prolific publisher of awesome content.

I have several blogs that I have just started, however I am so ready to write an eBook. I’ve already created the cover, the topic and the layout. The only thing stopping me at this time is if it should be free or if I should sell. I can’t make up my mind. I’m currently reading my books that I got from Amazon on Freelance writing. What I’m going to do is offer a free one and sell one as well. There are several strategies to go with it. It depends what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for asking Josh, I am looking for both actually. I am on a fairly active social site that gets many hits. And I want to use affiliates of course for my visitors, however, I want to have my own product….So, I suppose, I have to some extent a list at this site and I know I could possibly make it larger…which is ultimately my goal. On the other hand I also have my own sites to do and I want to create a list, where I don’t have an audience yet to sell or offer a product to. So, I believe what you are telling me Josh, is that for my sites that have little to no audience create a free e Book with back end sales or affiliates, and for my sites with somewhat of an audience create an e Book for pay and increase my sales with back end sellers and affiliates. I hope I’m right about this. I’ve been trying to learn the ropes for some time now and I’m ready to climb as far as I can go…..Thanks Josh.

That is exactly what I’m saying. If you have a blog/site that you are starting to generate the traffic. You’ll want to offer something of value with powerful information in it for an exchange of an email address. As you build your list you can always monetize from it when you create your own products or sell affiliate products.
The one thing to remember, always be testing! So you’ll want to test both methods if possible with different blogs/sites. I must say, it sounds like you are on target with what you are accomplishing. Go get them!
