How to Manage Multiple Blogs Successfully

Manage Multiple Blogs

Most of JoshGarcia.com readers own a blog. If not, I’m sure you are thinking about starting one to generate leads or make money online.

If you already own a blog. I’m not sure if it has cross your mind that once you have one successful blog with traffic flowing every single day.

You can simply put up another blog to go after another niche market to make money. Understand that once you know how to generate traffic to a blog. Creating another one to go after a different niche market shouldn’t be difficult.

However, I will tell you first hand that owning multiple blogs you must really learn how to manage your personal time. If you don’t…You’ll Burn Yourself Out!

That is why I put together this quick list so you can have a better journey at managing more than one blog.

Dedicate a time slot for the new blog

When starting another blog make sure you pace yourself and don’t start 2 or 3 at the same time. Get the new blog installed and start creating content for it to drive traffic to it.

Know your limits

If you know that you don’t have the time to manage another blog…Don’t start a new one! You don’t want to neglect your first blog, family time, or growing your business.

Keeping your blogs up to date

Since a blog is content driven. You’ll want to put together a schedule to create posts for your blogs. Ideally early mornings are the best since your mind is fresh. However, I know not everyone has that kind of schedule especially if you are a working parent.

Find a time slot to respond back to comments, ideally in the afternoon or early evening. If there is anything that requires updating make sure you handle it late night.

Never abandoned a blog

I’ve said it before that there are millions of abandoned blogs that are slowly dying. If you created more than one blog and realizing you can’t keep it up. There are options available for you.

Don’t let it sit there and collect dust. You can sell your blog on Sitepoint.

To get an idea what your blog is worth visit OuterStats.

I’ve heard of blog owners giving their blogs away to individuals starting out that follow the blog. The main key is to not let the blog sit there and slowly die and lose value every single day.

I’ll say this again, the important key to maintaining successful blogs is by starting with a one blog. Once you got handle of that blog, go ahead and add another.

Running multiple blogs seems like it would be very difficult to do. Especially if you are trying to post to every blog daily.

But, with the steps you outlined, it sounds a lot more managable. And if you only post to each blog twice a week, then feasibly you could possibly have 3 or so blogs going at a time.

Thanks for the great post. It made me feel as if, in the future, I could start another blog and successfully run both of them.

Hi Michael,

If someone is just starting out with blogging. I don’t recommend starting another blog until they have master handling their first blog. The beauty of blogging is that you can go into another niche market and start making money. Since you already know how to drive traffic to the blog.

Have a great day!

Hey Josh.

I agree with you here.

In fact, I recently started another blog (under construction) and this time I around I will also be using multiple authors to contribute to delivering content.

Thankfully this will free up my time and I get to use leverage. Ahhh!

Hi Jerome,

That is a smart thing to add to the new blog. A team of writers will definitely allow you to leverage and have more time while still accomplishing the goal.

Have a great day!

Hey Josh,

I totally agree that if you don’t have the time to manage another blog, don’t start one. Running one blog as a nerve center is a huge commitment, and taking on another one if you’re not properly prepared will take your focus away.

But maybe you can do a second blog as a team project and leverage the efforts of other people…

Hi Steve,

Having multiple blogs does require discipline and time management. However, once you know how to drive traffic, why not go after a new niche market to make money.

Have a great day!

Hey Josh and everyone who has commented

I have a tip, it is not unique, and it is sort of along the idea that Jerome is doing

Personally manage your Nerve Center and outsource your Niche Blogs (with the occasional drop by)

Otherwise you will burn out :)

Hi Josh,

I know plenty of people who just love starting little niche blogs. They get them up and running and being valuable and then they sell them. Sounds like a great way not to get bored. I have to admit I love researching other lesser known niches because they are one heck of lot easier to master in comparison to the online marketing niche. Thanks for the advice.

It is all about time management. Starting another blog should be only done when you get the first one to be popular among masses because if you are posting daily it would take time. Sitepoint seems a cool resource I will check it out. Great post.

Hi Josh,

great ideas. I’m planning to launch a second one, in German. No interference with my English one. It’s a matter of available time, that’s why I’m waiting because I don’t want to spread myself too thin. Even if I only translated my English stuff into German, that’s a lot of work. I was wondering if it affects SEO if I write in two languages on the same blog.

Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Take care

Hi Oliver,

That is awesome that you are looking at launching a new blog in German. I won’t be able to read it. But I’m sure it is going to be a winner! :)

If you write in two languages in one blog. That is going to confuse people and perhaps lose visitors. It is best to stick to one language and just create a separate blog for the other language.

Have a great day!

Before starting that second blog make sure you have the time to attend it. Even if you create another blog with several writers you still have to manage it. I’m sure Jerome isn’t going to give the other writers full admin rights to the blog.

Great subject Josh! I created another blog as well, in my native language since I’ve launched new local business.. But, there’s no time right now to keep my first blog active :( .. However I am not gonna let it die – its gonna be activated and refreshed as soon as I establish this business here..
You are right – its a must to maintain the activity – I am busy to keep up with both blogs so the results on my first one are negative – I felt it, so people be careful!

Great post friend!

Congrats on starting a blog in your language. That is great way to reach out to people surrounding you. It all boils down to time management. You’ll have to determine which one is going to yield you the most productivity. Have fun!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

It can be very tempting to start a new blog because you have a great, new idea that you want to jump on.

Only problem is, as you said, you can burn out quick if you jump on every idea. Instead, sit on the idea and let it develop, see if you like it a few weeks later – if so, go for it!
