I’m sure if you are reading this you fall into 2 categories: You already own a blog or you are looking at creating one.
In case you are not aware there are an estimated of 60 million blogs that are active worldwide. Now that is a handful of blogs!
So, if you haven’t started one…Do you want to really start one after reading that?
Hopefully, you said, “YES!”
Even with so many blogs that are active. When you develop your blog done the right way you’ll still be able to be profitable and beat the competition.
Are you treating it like a hobby or business?
The best part is that if you are looking at creating a blog and you treat it like a business not a hobby. It will produce like a business. Blogs are a great alternative source of income.
I don’t remember where I read this but bloggers out number webmasters in sales volume and lead generation. So if you have a blog and you are generating leads and sales…Congrats!
Most individuals start out blogging as a hobby until they get that first taste of generating an income. Then they turn it into a business.
I also know that not everyone that has a blog is successful. There are a lot of individuals that start a blog and let it go stale after a few months of operation.
Let me share with you 5 blogger tips as to why so many fail with their blogs:
1. Not choosing the right niche market – You want to select a niche that you can use your skills, ideas, and experience.
Let me share with you an example: if you are a dog trainer use it to your advantage, then you want to market to people who like dogs. This will allow you to share the proper information to your audience.
2. Not selecting the right target audience - Using the example above. You must target individuals who own dogs or looking at adopting a dog. If you start speaking to everyone that owns a pet. You won’t develop loyal readers.
You must speak to the right audience that have the same interests.
3. Not sharing resourceful information – Some of the reason why a lot of bloggers quit working on their blog is the lack of resource.
The best way to find resourceful information is to use your expertise or skills. Since you are very knowledgeable in your experience you should never run out of information.
4. Not Interacting with the readers who comment – Do you know that as the blog owner you can build good online relationships? Every time you receive a comment take the time to answer it back.
Go ahead and publish the comments so other readers will join in the conversation.
5. Not having fun with it – The most important thing about running your business blog is to be happy with what you are doing. You must have the passion to continue striving to be the best regardless of the competition.
If you don’t think you’ll like blogging. My advice don’t start a blog. Use another vehicle to generate leads or sales online.
Now that I share with you these 5 blogger tips hopefully it will help you with a direction to take. Understand that blogs are very powerful since they can be used for your small business, careers, services that you provide, or just a home-based business.
So go and have fun creating a profit!

These are great Josh.
You know, I didn’t even know there were that many blogs out there. If I knew that then, I wouldn’t have let it affected my decision to create my blog.
I think the most important for me is to make it fun and valuable. It allows me to feel like I’m serving a purpose, like I know it does for you as well.
Have a great day.

Hi Jerome,
Just because there are that many blogs out there. It doesn’t mean you can’t generate income from it. If you play your cards right, you will generate money and leads.
Have a great day!
I believe another important point is to be yourself. It’s good to get inspiration from others and even emulate them to a degree. However you have to have the courage (especially in the beginning) to be what you are – style, content etc.
I believe strongly that we attract prospective business partners and blog friends who respond to what we are as people.

That is a very good point…Be yourself! That would be scary if there were a lot of people trying to be Josh Garcia.

Great blog post! A blog is a convenient and easy way to market. At the same time you have to make sure that you give value to the right audience and at the same time have fun with it.

60 million blogs! REALLY?!?!?
And it feels like I’ve only done 50 million myself…
Good points you brought up, Josh. I’ve been guilty in the past of starting a blog in an area that I didn’t know much about and didn’t spend a lot of time getting to know the niche.
And I paid the price!
All I can tell anyone that is just starting out is that there is still PLENTY of room for great blogs as long as you’re willing to produce high-quality content on a regular basis.
Stick with it and reap the rewards!

Josh,
Doing business without knowing what your target market is will prevent you from reaching your objectives: increased sales, market share or brand awareness. Nice Post.

Hi Josh,
That’s an impressive number of blogs and growing daily, I’m sure!
Having fun along with the enjoying the experience of inspiring others are 2 things which have prevented my blog from failing. A few times it was teetering but I have a passion for blogging and passion is the element which drives you more than any other quality.
Thanks for sharing the helpful tips

Josh these are some great pointers to share. If people really focus on and apply just a couple of these guidelines they will be faring better than a lot of bloggers out there. What I take away from this post is to have fun but also have a purpose. When you get that combination right you will on the right path.

Hey Josh,
I like this line, “If you don’t think you’ll like blogging. My advice don’t start a blog. Use another vehicle to generate leads or sales online.” – that has to be gold when it comes to advice.
I’ll add to it too – if you already have a blog and don’t enjoy it then change tactics too. Blogging forms the core of my marketing although it took me a while to decide that. The reason why is because I love it more than anything else. I don’t care how fantastic a marketing strategy is working for someone else, if I don’t enjoy that strategy I won’t go there.

Hey Josh,
60 Million? Wow, that’s a staggering number, and it’s only going to grow from there. I found the fact that bloggers are way better at lead generation than traditional website owners very interesting too.
It goes to show how an extra personal touch, which is what a blog does, can make such a difference. I also like your advice about having FUN – that’s very important to keep you going.

Hey Josh,
That’s a lot of blogs out there!
#5 stands out to me. At first I enjoyed writing for it, but I wasn’t really having FUN with it. The longer I have it, the more fun it gets.
I can’t tell you now, how many times I’m smiling or laughing as I’m either writing a post, reading comments, replying to comments, and even reading & commenting on other blogs.
Blogging can be great fun once you get into the swing of things.

Hey Josh,
You hit on the two biggest mistakes I see people making all the time. Not picking the right niche and not going after the right people . The targeted approach to marketing is definitely the way to go.
Great info and something people should really take to heart,
Eric
Hi Eric,
I know this is an issue with a lot of marketers. Not knowing who to target or targeting a group that everyone else is targeting.
Have a wonderful day!
Awesome info as usual, Josh!
Talk about what you’re interested in and have fun with it, that’s a sure path to success.

Josh,
I love all 5 tips! However, the last one is my favorite – the best writing comes out from words falling down on screen like a waterfall
Hi Milena,
That is awesome! Coming down like a waterfall. Sounds like a true writer.
Have a wonderful day!
That’s one of the things you have to balance, the blog niche and audience. You can easily choose the right niche but completely miss the audience – and vice versa. It all becomes a perfect balance; once you find it, go for it all.
Hi Murlu,
It’s important that you focus to find that niche and audience that you can speak too.
Have an awesome day!
